Győri Audi ETO KC sacked head coach Gábor Danyi after last week's league defeat by Ferencváros. With Anita Görbicz as acting head coach, ETO defeated Debrecen VSC by 18 goals over the weekend. The club announced on its official website on Monday that Ambros Martín would return to the green and whites' bench sooner than planned. He has previously worked as their trainer for six years already.

Our preliminary information has been proven to be true: Ambros Martín will lead Győri ETO starting Monday.

According to a statement released on gyorietokc.hu, the Spanish trainer will sit on the bench again on Saturday in the Hungarian Cup semi-final against Ferencváros.

The president of the club, Csaba Bartha, thanked Anita Görbicz in particular for helping ETO to victory in the league against DVSC.

"The coaching trio led by Anita Görbicz prepared Győri Audi ETO KC for the K&H Women's Handball League match against DVSC. The club legend led the team to victory in her first tenure as head coach," the club said in a statement.

"I thank Anita Görbicz for taking on the job of preparing and leading the national team to the league match. Obviously, it wasn't easy, because under extraordinary circumstances she had to take on a whole new role, but she was an excellent leader for the girls. Congratulations to her and everyone on the team!"said Csaba Bartha.

The club's management examined the options for the remainder of the season and decided to appoint a new head coach to achieve the objectives laid out.

"Our agreement with Anita Görbicz was for one game only. She helped the team but said she wanted to finish the season as a player, and we respected her decision. We had to find a coach who could prepare and guide the team for the remaining weeks. One of the main aspects was to choose a coach in a short period who knows the club well in every way. So, we asked Ambros Martín to start working with the team now instead of in July. He accepted the offer and will hold his first training session for the squad today. I wish him good luck!"the president added.

Ambros Martín was supposed to return as head coach of Győri Audi ETO in July 2021. The Spanish trainer will start the remaining games of the season with the staff unchanged – Attila Kun is the assistant coach, and Zoltán Holanek is the fitness coach, the club's website concludes.

Martín managed the team from the Little Hungarian Plain region as head coach from 2012 to 2018, during which time the club won the Champions League four times in addition to five league titles and five cup victories.

Martín left in 2018 to become the head coach of Rostov-Don in Russia, while he was also working for the Romanian women's national team until May 2019, then for the Russian women's national team starting August of that year. With the latter team, he won a bronze medal at the World Women's Handball Championship two years ago. He was forced to leave the Russian team following a quarter-final defeat to Denmark at the 2020 European Championship.

In February this year, ETO announced that Martín would return to the bench in Győr in the summer. However, after losing to Ferencváros, ETO was at a disadvantage for the league gold. After sacking Gábor Danyi, the club's management decided to reactivate Martín as soon as possible.

When announcing the Spanish coach's return in the summer, ETO has also announced that Martín would sign a two-year contract with the club.
