The Hungarian mixed relay team won silver medal at the World Cup in Dordrecht, but more importantly, the team earned a quota spot in Beijing.

The Hungarian mixed relay team entered the semifinals of the event in the composition of Petra Jászapáti, Zsófia Kónya, John-Henry Krueger, and Shaolin Sándor Liu. Interestingly, in race 11 of the World Cup series, the team was eleventh in the starting position, and they skated lavishly, reaching the final as heat winners.

Then Shaoang Liu replaced John-Henry Krueger for the final, and the team skated smart and well in the finale as well: after finishing third, sixth, then fourth in the World Cup series, they won a silver medal in Dordrecht.

The Hungarian team finished third in the overall World Cup rankings – 12 teams can compete at the Beijing Olympics, but the requirement for obtaining a quota place was to have two individual quotas for both men and women as well. Given that this was already achieved on Saturday, we can say that there will be a Hungarian mixed relay team at the Beijing Olympics!

Earlier, Shaoang Liu won the 1000 m and won the World Cup again after two years.

It is safe to say that, as usual, in addition to our three aces, namely the Liu brothers and John-Henry Krueger, Bence Nógrádi competed in the men's relay in the finale of the event, and the quartet reached the podium once again: after the silver in Beijing, the bronze in Nagoya and the bronze in Debrecen, they won another bronze in Dordrecht.
