Ferencváros lost at Celtic's home in front of a full house, and Peter Stöger was understandably disappointed after the 2-0 result.

Is Celtic that much better of a team?
– The better team won," told our portal Peter Stöger, the head coach of Ferencváros, in Glasgow. – I'm not happy, I can't be happy with what I saw. We were good in the first half, but unfortunately, after the break, we couldn't keep up and Celtic forced their will on us. We gifted them an easy goal. I ask you: how can it happen that we lose the ball 90 meters from our goal and the opponent suddenly appears in front of us? The opponent's attacker practically could have driven the ball to Dénes Dibusz alone; at least one foul should have been attempted against the attacker.

Has there been no chance of earning points?
– We've played three international games. In hindsight, I can say maybe we would have had a chance to earn points in all three meetings. But to do that, these mistakes would have had to be eliminated. Looks like we lack good quality in these meetings. We have another important game in two weeks; we welcome Celtic, and we have to correct those mistakes by then.

Did you make the right decision when you put Dénes Dibusz in the goal? The goalkeeper defended well several times and even saved a penalty. Do you agree with this?
– Absolutely. Dénes did a great job, he had a great defense. He already had a job at the start of the game; there is no question that he saved the match for us, he did a lot by saving the penalty so that we could still have a chance at the end of the meeting.

At 1-0, did you seek to stabilize the midfield by substituting with Somália and Stjepan Loncar?
– I felt the opponent was bringing the ball to us more and more, I was trying to fix it with two strong footballers. It was important to have less pressure on our one-on-one defenders during that period of the game. Somália and Loncar are players who can run a lot – we needed their freshness. Celtic was a strong opponent, not only of whose midfielders and forwards, but often their defenders came forward, and it consumed our strength. The pace really couldn't be a complaint, the Scottish dictated a tough tempo.

The team remains pointless in the group. Could you have your first victory or at least a draw when you welcome Celtic?
– There's a chance to earn a point! It would be great to earn points, but we must not make such easy mistakes in defense. The first goal was painful, we also made mistakes resulting in a penalty, and we weren't confident enough or decisive before the second goal. Unfortunately, on this day, our game lacked real power, but the Scottish were extremely sharp in the foreground of our goal area. I saw that Celtic's footballers wanted to score goals, but I can't say the same about our players...

THE SCOTTISH TEAM'S COACH IS PLEASED – UNDERSTANDABLY

The Scottish were understandably happy.Head coach Ange Postecoglou arrived at the press conference after the meeting with an ear-to-ear smile, but after the first question, he couldn't believe his ears.

"You think we didn't deserve to win?” he asked the Scottish journalist back. “Funny question... But if I really have to answer, we definitely deserved the three points, we played better in this match. We started aggressively, we had more opportunities early in the meeting. We've got a lot of creative players, not everyone has played impeccably, but overall, we deserved to win.”

The head coach said it was important that their defense was very good.

"It's not only because of the defenders. The midfielders and the forwards helped out as well; it was a real team effort. That gave my team the confidence. We've been without a point in the group so far, but I didn't feel the players were half-hearted. Maybe we don't even have to give up on getting one of the first two places. After this victory, we can travel to Budapest with sufficient confidence next time. We've had mistakes, which we have to fix, but we're going to Ferencváros' home for the three points.”
